Richard Joseph “Murph” Murphy

Richard Joseph “Murph” Murphy was born on August 23, 1954 and passed away August 19, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Maureen Murphy of Norman, Okla., brothers; Jerry and Valarie Murphy of Peal, Ark., John and Karen Murphy of Madison Lakes, Minn., sisters; Shirley Delfs of Garwin, Iowa, Mary and Dana Linder of Reinbeck, Judy Otto of Davenport, Iowa. He is also survived by his wife’s family; Michael and Joan Murphy of Midwest City, Okla., Michael Murphy of Midwest City, Okla., Kathi Meachim of Elizabethtown, Pa., Matthew and Lisa Murphy of Avondale, Ariz, and brother-in-law Rick Attivo of Harrisburg, Pa. Along with numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Hazel Murphy of Reinbeck, brother, Patrick Murphy, brother-in-law Jack Otto and sister-in-law Colleen Attivo of Harrisburg Pa.

Rick was very outgoing, friendly and a wonderful guy. He was always smiling and made you feel important to him. Rick always had a kind word to say and never met a stranger. He was an avid guitar player and liked to sing when he was jamming. He had a love for OU football and NASCAR. Rick loved to ride his motorcycle with his friends and was always tinkering with something. He liked a challenge and the task of figuring it out. He dearly loved and spoiled their dogs; Misty, McKenzie and Haden.

He will be deeply missed by all his friends and family. Services for Rick were held on August 27, 2011 in Midwest City, Okla. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, 21275 U Ave., Reinbeck at 1 p.m. A private family burial will take place at Blessing Cemetery – rural Hudson. In lieu of flowers donations are requested to help with family expenses.
