Doris E. Collette

Doris E. Collette, 84, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Iles Funeral Homes – Grandview Park Chapel. Burial was at Berwick Cemetery. Doris was born on July 27, 1926 in Green Mountain, Iowa, the daughter of Esther and Herbert Moeller. She grew up in Marshalltown and received her Teacher’s Certificate from the University of Northern Iowa. Doris was a teacher in Beaman, Iowa and moved to Des Moines in 1955. She was a librarian at Cornell Elementary School and worked at the State Historical Library of Iowa until her retirement in 1997. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Doris is survived by her children: Michael Staker of Sarasota, FL, Roxi (Dick) Downing and Richard M. (Diane) Collette all of Ankeny, Reggie (Lisa) Collette of Des Moines, Colleen Erickson of Slater and Dawn (Aaron) Young of Des Moines; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and a brother, Gilbert (Irmgard) Moeller of Conrad. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Eldon Staker and Richard Collette; daughter-in-law, Starr Staker; sister, JoAnne Woosley and brother, Robert Moeller.
