Maxine “Tooty” Siemens, 87

Maxine “Tooty” Siemens, 87, of Garwin, Iowa, died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at MMSC, of a sudden illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Overton Funeral Home in Garwin. Maxine “Tooty” Siemens was born December 31, 1923, at a farmhouse outside of Garwin, daughter of: Nis and Louise (Uphoff) Jensen, Jr. She attended country school at Rural Garwin. Maxine was united in marriage to Bill Siemens on March 7, 1963; he accepted her daughters as his very own. Bill preceded Maxine in death on March 8, 1993. She was a cook for many years at the Garwin School for grades K-12 and she enjoyed talking with the kids. After retirement, she continued working doing odd jobs for other people. Maxine enjoyed bingo, playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, visiting with other people and writing her daily activities in her book. She was also a member with the Garwin American Legion Auxiliary and the Garwin United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill and a brother Melford Jensen. Maxine is survived by 2 daughters: Joan (Paul) Kolpek of Racine, Wisconsin and Paulette Womack of Dekalb, Illinois; 2 grandchildren: Jeffrey (Gina) Kolpek and Dennis (Jeanne) Kolpek; 2 great-grandchildren: Carissa and Samantha Kolpek and her granddog Cody. Maxine will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
