Obituary

Maynard “M.C. Ken” Kenyon, 82 of Reinbeck, Iowa passed away Monday, March 28, 2011 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Memorial Service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the New Life Assembly of God Church in Reinbeck, Iowa. A military service was conducted by the American Legion Post # 242 of Reinbeck. Memorial visitation was held one hour prior to the Memorial Service at the church. Burial will be conducted privately by the family, at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Ken was born on August 28, 1928 to his parents Arnold and Mabel (Shaller) Kenyon. Ken graduated from Grinnell High School, Grinnell, Iowa and then enlisted in the United States Marines. He served towards the very end of World War II. Ken was honorably discharged and returned to Jefferson, Iowa, where he married his first wife Lois Durlam. They welcomed two sons into their family. Later, Ken and Lois were divorced and Ken went on to be united in marriage to his wife Raena Jean Anderson of Reinbeck, Iowa.

Ken was very active in many veterans groups including the Reinbeck American Legion Post # 242. Ken was also involved with the Honor Flights that took Iowa Veterans to the memorials in Washington, D.C. He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America at the state and national level.

Ken is survived by his sons Michael (Tammy) Kenyon of Mesa, Ariz. and William (Brynn) Kenyon of Thompson Falls, Mont.; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren and 5 step-great-great grandchildren; sisters Natalie Livergood and Shirley Dyson; step-daughter-in-law Geri (Eldon) DeVries. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Raena and brother, Arnold Jr.
