Mrs. BettyJane Hulst, age 86

Mrs. BettyJane Hulst, age 86, of Hospers, passed away on Saturday, November, 27, 2010, at the Westbrook Acres Nursing Home in Gladbrook, Iowa. There was a memorial service on Wednesday, December 1, at 11:00 a.m. at the Newkirk Reformed Church in rural Hospers. The Rev. David Powers will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Hospers Cemetery. There will be a prayer service on Wednesday, at 10:00am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hospers. BettyJane Alice was born on October 12, 1924, in rural Brunsville, the daughter of Evert and Emilee (Jaster) Heeren. She was raised at Brunsville and Kingsley and attended a country school near Merrill. On August 14, 1959, she married Nick H. Hulst in the parsonage of the Newkirk Reformed Church. They made their home in Hospers, where she was a homemaker and a housekeeper for other families. In the fall of 2006, they moved to the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City, and in January of 2008, they transferred to the Orange City Area Health System Long Term Care Facility. Nick passed away on June 5, 2008, in Orange City. In November of 2009, Betty became a resident of Westbrook Acres, to be near her children. She was a member of the Newkirk Reformed Church. Survivors include her two children and their spouses, Jeffrey Lee and Sandi Hulst, of Gladbrook; and Nancy Ann and Michael Wilson, of Ankeny; six grandchildren, Nicole, and her husband, Dustin Johnson; Weston Hulst, and his wife, Susie; Tessa Hulst; Tanner Hulst; Callie Hulst; and Nathan Wilson, and his fiancé, Wendy Godfrey; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan Johnson and Lily Wilson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Seth Hulst; and four brothers and a sister, Stanley Heeren, twins Darold and Darlene Heeren, Warren Heeren, and Harold Heeren.
