Obituary

Stanley Goos, 63, of Union Grove Lake, died Thursday, November 11th, at his home while in the care of his loving family and Iowa Hospice.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 15th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, with Pastor Roger White of the Gladbrook United Methodist Church officiating. Private burial will be at a later date. Full military honors will be by his comrades and friends from the Ehrig-McTurk Post of the Gladbrook American Legion. Born on February 7th, 1947, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, he was the son of Irwin “Pee-Wee” and Arlene “Fuzzy” (Hansen) Goos. He graduated from the Gladbrook High School Class of 1965 and served our country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969.

On December 16th, 1972, he was united in marriage to Jackie Boldt at the Salem Church of Lincoln. They have always made their home in the Gladbrook community. Stanley was employed by the Spahn-Rose Lumber Company.

He was a member of the Gladbrook United Methodist Church, the Gladbrook American Legion Ehrig-McTurk Post and the Union Grove Lake Park and Holding Company. Stanley will be fondly remembered for his love of family, completing home improvement projects, restoring old cars, watching westerns and the History Channel, and not letting grass grow under his feet. He will be especially remembered for his love of family and grandchildren, a good and generous friend and neighbor, and loved life to its fullest.

Left to cherish his memory are Jackie, his loving wife of 37 years, five children: Carol Jean Cork of Copperas Cove, Texas, Pamela (Sterling) Heise of Des Moines, Samuel (Shanna) Goos of Gladbrook, Daniel (Cheryl) Goos of Marshalltown and Elizabeth (Joshua) Brubaker of Gladbrook, eleven grandchildren: Heather, Ashley, Kamron, Preston, Maya, Caitlin, Tanner, Cassidy, Lily, Landyn and Grace, his mother Arlene Fuzzy of Gladbrook, his brothers Mark (Linda) Goos of Gladbrook and Gregg (Terri) Goos of West Liberty, Iowa as well as the Boldt family and several neighbors and friends.

In death, he rejoined his father, Pee-Wee, and sons Jason and Joshua in infancy.
