Elmer O. Eilers, 85 of Gladbrook, IA passed away Sunday June 13, 2010, at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Gladbrook United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. Masonic Service to be held, Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at the Goettsch Perrin Funeral Home in Gladbrook. Elmer was born April 11, 1925 in Gladbrook to Carl O. and Laura (Herbster) Eilers. He attended the Gladbrook schools, graduating from Gladbrook High School in 1942. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Elmer was united in marriage to Majel Osten in Gladbrook on February 12, 1946. She died July 13, 2005. He was employed in the construction business his entire life. He loved to camp and travel with his wife. Elmer was a member of the Gladbrook United Methodist Church, 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge Olivet 436, and a 50 year member of the Gladbrook American Legion. Elmer will be missed by his four children; June (Richard) Klinefelter of Fayette, IA, John Eilers of Lincoln, IA, Paul (Diane) Eilers of Toledo, IA, Gerald (Marcia) Eilers of Redfield, IA, four grandchildren; Rebecca Klinefelter, Cassandra Coll, Thaddeus Eilers, Stephen Eilers, step grandson; Bryan Byrd, and six great grandchildren. He will join in eternal life his wife Majel, a daughter in infancy, two brothers; Charles and Irvin, three sisters; Elsie Eilers, Ruth Boland, and Edna Medberry.
