Obituary

Patty Lea Lewis, 73 of Traer died on May 27, 2010 at Sunnycrest Nursing Center in Dysart from and extended illness. Visitation was held on June 1, 11 AM at Overton Funeral Home. Service was held at 1:30 PM. Burial was at Buckingham Cemetery.

Patty Lea Lewis was born May 19, 1937 in Iowa City, the daughter of Frank and Alice Briggs Tanner. Patty moved with her family to the Traer area where she attended school. On January 18, 1965 she was united in marriage to Donn Lewis at Grand Forks, N.D. Patty and Donn made their home in various communities and for the past 35 years have been residents of the Traer community.During that time she worked in the restaurant industry as a cook and waitress. This past week she became a resident of the Sunnycrest Care Center in Dysart where her death occurred on Thursday evening. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons Cletus Lewis on April 4, 1986 and Mike Aswegan on August 16, 2004, and two sisters Darlene Bradley and Brenda Catherwood and one brother Johnny Tanner. She is survived by her husband Donn of Traer, one son Craig (Jamie) Aswegan of Hiawatha, two daughters Vicky Tanner of Traer and Lori (Doug) Lewis of Lincoln, Neb., one brother Kent (Kent) Tanner of New Albin, one sister Karen Mannschreck of Hooper, Neb., 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
