Funeral services for Ruth Anna Sonksen , 95, who entered into eternal life April 19, 2010 at Westbrook Acres Care Center in Gladbrook will be celebrated, 10:30 A.M., Monday, April 26, 2010 at Peace United Church of Christ of which she was a member. Visitation will be 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sunday at Goettsch Funeral Home in Gladbrook. Online condolences may be sent to her family at www.vogelfuneralhomes.com . Ruth was born September 17, 1914 in Pulaski, Iowa to Emma (Hippe) and Henry Boelsche. She graduated from Dysart High School and on December 28, 1938 married Gilbert Sonksen in the parsonage of the Evangelical and Reformed Peace Church in Gladbrook. Together they farmed in the Gladbrook area for over 50 years. Ruth was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, the church Afternoon Guild, Neighborhood Club and bowling leagues for many years. She will be missed by her daughters; Judith (Don) Steiert and Pamela (Jim) Robinson, five grandchildren; Cindy Dierks, Tracy Freese, Christy Frese, Jeffery Robinson and Kelly Edwards, six great grandchildren; Megan Zlatohlavek, Jordan Dierks, Katie Dierks, Jessica Robinson, Gwen Edwards and Frank Edwards IV. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Gilbert, her brother, Carl Boelsche and sisters; Margaret Wagner and Florence Wiese. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Peace United Church of Christ.
