GLADBROOK – The Gladbrook Women’s Club meeting was held Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Methodist Church in Gladbrook.

Joan introduced our guest speaker Jennifer Wrage who shared her experience growing up in Amana. Jennifer lived a very simple life with her family going to church and being confirmed with the tradition of wearing all black during the ceremony. Jennifer visits her 93 year old father who still lives in Amana. A very interesting program for all of us. Co-President JoAnn called the meeting to order with roll call “What was your first driving experience.”

JoAnn reported Marcy will be taking over the position of Corresponding Secretary, as Barb Bereckzi has resigned due to moving out of state. We are also looking for a member to take over the Recording Secretary position, as Lisa Peterson resigned due to her schedule.

Karen Handorf gave the Treasurer Report. JoAnn presented the 2026-2027 budget, Mary Jane made a motion to approve the budget as read, second by Karen L. Motion passed with 1 no vote.

Reports were given on the Corn Carnival float, June outing and the 4-H Tama County Fair Food Stand. JoAnn brought up the idea of having some possible fundraising projects. After much discussion a motion was made by Marcy and second by Barb L to have a Soup & Salad Supper on election night if the church is available for us to hold it there. Motion carried.

Jennifer Guyer has agreed to update the Women’s Club Facebook page. A sign up sheet was passed around for our upcoming Sr. Citizen Salad luncheon.

Our next meeting will be Thursday, Oct. 8, 11:30 a.m. at the Gladbrook Memorial Building when we serve the Sr. Citizens. Program provided by Sandy Short with Taylor’s Maid Rite.

A reminder was given for those baking cookies for the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in October. The meeting was then adjourned.
