GARWIN – GMG Elementary rising fifth grader Peyton Faircloth and her little brother, Cooper Faircloth, a rising GMG first-grade student, were crowned Little Miss and Mr. Freedom Days, respectively, on Friday, July 3, prior to Garwin’s grand parade. The lucky siblings were each gifted a crown and custom sash for the occasion. While the contest is meant to honor one girl and one boy entering second or third grade, with winners drawn at random, no other children registered for the honor and thus the Faircloth siblings stepped up to save the day. During the parade, they rode in the back of their family’s Faircloth Farms float, tossing candy to the crowd. Peyton and Cooper are the children of Joel and Casey Faircloth of rural Toledo.
