Gladbrook Community Foundation announces grant awardees

GLADBROOK – The Gladbrook Community Foundation Board of Directors has announced the 2026 disbursements for a total of $32,197.00. For 19 years, the Foundation has supported local organizations through its grant program. The following are the community betterment projects that received funds this year:

-Gladbrook American Legion Auxiliary and Peace United Church of Christ: $500; Kids Shopping Day

-Community Area Kids Club: $750; Service projects, bibles, and family Christmas meal

-Crayon Corner Learning Center: $6,200; Mini split unit in the kitchen

-Tama County Historical Society: $2,000; Microfilm and digitization project for past Gladbrook newspapers

-Garwin Little League $2,500; Help with funding for new dugout and fencing

-Tama County K9 Program: $6,000; Funding for continued support of K9 program

-Gladbrook Corn Carnival Corporation: $6,500; New Corn Carnival banners for Main Street and set of bleachers for use during the festival

-Gladbrook Public Library: $2,000; Marketing pieces, programs, and events at the library

-Gladbrook American Legion Post #127: $900; New flags at the All-Memorial Park and floor maintenance in the Memorial Building

-Tama County Master Gardeners-Gladbrook: $847; Hanging flower baskets and planters on Main Street

-Gladbrook Theater: $4,000; Theater marquee repair, new booster seats, baby changing table, professional carpet cleaning, and cleaning of sealed hard surface floor on second level

All gifts made to the Foundation qualify as charitable donations for the donor and are recognized as such by the Internal Revenue Service. This gives donors the ability to donate to the community of Gladbrook and avoid federal and state income, estate and gift taxes on those contributions.

Your tax-deductible contribution to the Gladbrook Community Foundation can be mailed to PO Box 373 Gladbrook, IA 50635 or Farmers Savings Bank & Trust, PO Box 435, Traer, IA 50675.

Gifts to the Foundation may be made in cash, appreciated securities, real estate, pledges, deferred gifts (such as life insurance proceeds or bequests in a will), or charitable remainder trusts.

The Foundation will receive and accept properties and gifts for the benefit of Gladbrook and its citizens as the donor directs the funds to be spent, or as the Foundation’s Board of Directors select.

Board members include the following representatives: Cornell Gethmann, representing Gladbrook Commercial Club; Terry Schmitz, representing Ehrig-McTurk #127 American Legion; Trudi Scott, representing the City of Gladbrook; Mark Lowry, representing Sons of American Legion; Keith Sash, representing Gladbrook Lions Club; and Matt Gebel, representing Crayon Corner Preschool. Bowman & Miller serves as the CPA. Farmers Savings Bank & Trust serves as Trustee.
