GARWIN – The following was posted to social media last month by the Garwin Enrichment League. The newspaper is publishing the full post as a courtesy to our readers.

The Garwin Enrichment League, a 501(c)(3) organization, is a group of community members who plan, organize, and fundraise for events in Garwin. Our goal is to keep the community thriving and its people connected. We aim to provide the same hometown experiences for children in the community that we had growing up, which you probably remember as well. We have pride and love for our small town and want to pass that on to the next generation.

In 2026 we will continue to host monthly community breakfasts, a Fall Harvest Meal, Souper Supper with Santa, Fat Tuesday meal, St. Patrick’s Day corned beef and cabbage meal, Easter breakfast, and our biggest event yet to come – Garwin Freedom Days!

This year we will celebrate [Garwin Freedom Days for] three days. We will kick things off with a parade on Friday evening, July 3, followed by food trucks and a band downtown.

Saturday, July 4, will be a full day of activities, including favorites like the lawn mower races, kiddie tractor pull, Lions Club breakfast, Garwin Fire Department hog roast, kids inflatables, 5K run/walk and, antique tractor display. We will have live music on the bandstand, and several food trucks. The Garwin Enrichment League is again funding the fireworks celebration – bigger and better for the nation’s 250th anniversary!

Freedom Days weekend wraps up on Sunday with a community church service in the park under the hoop building and a bake sale following the service.

All of these activities cannot happen without the generous support of the community and area businesses. We are asking for your continued support as we strive to offer bigger and better community events this year and for years to come.
