GLADBROOK – The Gladbrook American Legion & Auxiliary enjoyed a soup supper meeting on Monday, Feb. 16, hosted by the Post. Their guests were members of the Gladbrook-Lincoln Ambulance Service and Fire Department. This is a great way to thank the volunteers for their dedicated service. Also present, a teacher from Gladbrook-Reinbeck with a special delivery.

Unit President Jeanne Paustian introduced Rachel Logemann, sixth grade teacher at G-R. Her elementary students along with teacher Megan Welter and her students, created Valentines for Veterans as a way to thank our veterans and remind them that they are loved by their community. Veterans were given a valentine suncatcher, bag of candy, and a large handmade patriotic valentine card. The students wrote the following on the back of the card: “Dear Veteran, HAPPY VALENTINES Day! I can’t even begin to say how grateful we all are for you. Thank you for your service to our country. It is because of you that I have freedom. Thank you for every single thing you have done for this country! I hope you know how much good you have done!” A student signed their name to every card.

Legislative Chr. Kay Lowry gave her yearly report about what Congress is doing for our veterans. Americanism Chr. Lisa Reinhard gave her yearly report on the projects the Unit has done to promote Americanism. She talked about the GMG flag raising, Flag Day and Veterans Day Programs at WBA, and the Post and Unit Veterans Day Celebration.
