REINBECK – The Gladbrook-Reinbeck Booster Club hosted its annual Hall of Fame Dinner and Reception on Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Oak Leaf Country Club in Reinbeck.

The guest speaker this year was Jay Beichley of Gladbrook, a member of the 2004 Class 1A State Runner-Up Rebel football team.

Among those honored this year by the Booster Club, G-R Class of 1993 alumnus Wayne Haskovec was inducted as the 2025 Hall of Fame Athlete. Haskovec is currently a social studies teacher and the head wrestling coach for the Hudson Community School District.

“What a great night. Very honored to be a part of the Rebel tradition,” Haskovec posted to social media following the event. “Great to see so many familiar faces, even if it has been 33 years since I donned a Rebel uniform!!”

The 2004 Class 1A State Runner-Up football team was inducted as the 2025 Hall of Fame Team. The Rebels ended the 2004-05 season with a 12-2 (6-1) record after narrowly losing, 10-3, the state championship to undefeated St. Albert Catholic (Council Bluffs). It was G-R’s first title game appearance in school history. The team’s only loss during the regular season that year was to Turkey Valley. In the Class 1A playoffs, G-R notched wins over St. Ansgar (13-9) in the first round, Bishop Garrigan (31-30) in the second round, and Regina Catholic (28-14) in the semi-finals. The team was helmed that season by head coach Chris Ehrhardt.

Rod and Mardel Brockett were inducted as 2025 Hall of Fame Volunteers. In particular, the Brocketts have been standout volunteers with the GR Fine Arts Boosters. Rod is also a longtime member of the G-R school board.

Superfan Ty Niedert was inducted as the 2025 Hall of Fame Fan.

Rounding out the stellar 2025 Hall of Fame inductees list, Deb Cooley was inducted as the 2025 Booster Member.

“A night filled with pride, gratitude, and inspiration,” the Boosters wrote on social media following the event. “The Booster Club Hall of Fame Banquet brought together stories of excellence, leadership, and lasting impact. Congratulations to all who were honored – you truly represent the best of us. Thank you Jay Beichley for your keynote address! Go Rebels!”
