GRUNDY CENTER – On Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, the Grundy County Board of Supervisors held the annual reorganizational meeting.

During the meeting, District 2 Supervisor Heidi Nederhoff (R-Wellsburg) was again appointed chairperson, while District 1 Supervisor LJ Kopsa (R-Beaman) was appointed vice chairperson – replacing Supervisor Mark A. Schildroth in the role.

A slew of resolutions/appointments were made by the board including setting the date and time for regular meetings – every Monday at 9 a.m. until business is completed; if Monday is a holiday, the next business day of the week at 9 a.m.

The board also took action on the resignation of now-former Grundy County Treasurer Brenda J. Noteboom who resigned effective Dec. 31, 2025. Noteboom, a Republican, was elected in 2022 after running unopposed in both the primary and general elections that year. The supervisors approved a resolution appointing Lori K. Kruse to the position of Grundy County Treasurer effective immediately. “[T]he Board of Supervisors received applications, interviewed candidates, and believes that the appointment of a County Treasurer is in the best interests of Grundy County,” the resolution states, in part.

Prior to her appointment, Kruse was second deputy in the Grundy County Treasurer’s Office. She was administered the oath of office during the meeting by Noteboom herself.

The supervisors also approved a resolution allowing the new treasurer one first deputy, one second deputy, one motor vehicle deputy, and one part-time driver’s license deputy in her office — all in line with past practice. The resolution reappointed the following staff members to three of those positions:

-Tracy Beenken, First Deputy Treasurer

-Emily Albers, Motor Vehicle Deputy

-Carie Sparks, Part-time Driver’s License Deputy

Per Grundy County Auditor Alan Tscherter and as of press time, Kruse was in the process of hiring a fourth individual to fill the second deputy position.

Following the approval of a lengthy list of appointments and reappointments for members of the board, updates on various boards and committees were provided before the meeting was adjourned.
