GLADBROOK — The Gladbrook-Lincoln Ambulance Service hosted its Touch a Truck Food Drive event on Nov. 20.
This successful event was made possible by the agencies, volunteers and people who participated and donated food for the Gladbrook Food Pantry. The Gladbrook Fire Department, Tama County Sheriff’s Office, Goos Implement and Central Iowa Towing had vehicles and equipment at the event for children of all ages to enjoy.
The Ambulance Service showcased its new ambulance equipped with a Stryker Power-LOAD Stretcher Loading System which hydraulically lifts the patient and stretcher to the floor level of the ambulance, greatly reducing the risk of back injury for the volunteers. The new ambulance replaces a 2004 chassis that had reached the end of its useful mechanical life. This Power-LOAD system has been very well received by all the volunteers and the service hopes to install the system on its second ambulance in early 2026.
Also on display was the newest Lifepak 15 cardiac monitor. Generous community contributions to the Gladbrook-Lincoln Ambulance Foundation funded the purchase of this new monitor which is a key diagnostic and treatment tool.
Community members interested in volunteering to help neighbors, can contact the Gladbrook-Lincoln Ambulance Service at 641-473-2281 or by messaging Gladbrook Lincoln on Facebook.
