REINBECK – Santa Claus made a phenomenal entrance last Friday night (Nov. 14) in downtown Reinbeck for Miracle on Main’s kickoff event by way of the annual celebration’s brand new tree lighting ceremony in Bill Davis Park. Just ahead of 6:30 p.m., the park’s crowd – mostly young families – swelled beyond capacity, spilling out onto the sidewalks and the street. Suddenly, there arose the sound of sirens and soon thereafter, St. Nicholas himself appeared at the entrance to the park courtesy of a Reinbeck Fire truck. As he gingerly picked his way through the crowd to the back corner of the festively-lit space, children practically mobbed him. Following a brief introduction by a Miracle on Main committee member, the crowd was asked to count Santa down to the official lighting: “One, two, three – Santa, light that tree!!” children and their caregivers cried out, to which Santa merrily obliged. The unseasonably mild weather on Friday evening could not have been more pleasant with temperatures in the 60s prior to the lighting and winds at a minimum. “Thank you, Reinbeck, for making our Miracle on Main Street celebration unforgettable!” organizers posted to social media following the conclusion of the two-day event. “Your enthusiasm, generosity, and small-town pride created a day full of magic and community connection. We are deeply grateful for your support and can’t wait to celebrate with you again next year!”
