Students enrolled at both GMG and Gladbrook-Reinbeck headed back to the classroom this past Monday, Aug. 25, on what was the first day of the 2025-26 school year, including 28 seniors at GMG Secondary in Garwin who marked their last first day with a group photo. As is tradition, flag-raising ceremonies were conducted in both districts. In Green Mountain at GMG Elementary, the Gladbrook Legion and Auxiliary along with the Jr. Auxiliary assisted with the activity, while veterans with Reinbeck American Legion Post 242 assisted with G-R’s flag-raising activities and the high school band performed “The Star-Spangled Banner.” With temperatures hovering just under 50 degrees Monday morning and the sun shining brightly overhead, drop-off was a pleasant experience weatherwise.
