Creativity saves Gladbrook Senior Dinner in wake of dicey June weather

LINCOLN – Members of Salem Church served the June Gladbrook Senior Dinner on Friday, June 20, amid rainy, windy conditions. The storm knocked out electricity to the church, but part of Lincoln managed to retain power, so the lunch was moved to the AMVETS Post 10 Hall. The weather forced all meals to be delivered. The ‘Cowboy Dinner’ included chicken legs, potatoes, cowboy beans, corn bread, salad, and dessert. Salem Church always features a wonderful musical program as part of its annual hosting duties, but due to the weather, the program will have to wait until next year for the seniors’ enjoyment. Those pictured on Friday include (from left) Marty Ramsey, Penny Lage, Deb Wentzien, Janell Ramsey, and Erin Wentzien.
