Gladbrook Women’s Club news

On Thursday, May 9, the Gladbrook Women’s Club traveled to the Peppercorn Pantry in Aplington. After lunch, a meeting and installation of new officers for 2024-2025 was held. Seventeen members answered roll call with one guest present also.

The minutes of the April meeting were read and approved followed by the treasurer’s report.

In old business, it was reported that the Senior Citizens’ luncheon in April was a success and everyone enjoyed the program.

We still need someone to chair the Corn Carnival float. Ideas for the float were discussed and we are still needing a trailer to use.

The signup list for the Fair Food Stand was passed around. Those not in attendance will be called with available working times. We will be working on Thursday, July 18, with the special being the hot beef sundae. Shifts to work are available anytime from 10 a.m. through 7 p.m.

Committee and project sign-ups were also passed around for those not yet signed up.

Three members attended the Cedar Valley Hospice Appreciation Dinner and reported that it was very nice.

The June outing will be held on Thursday, June 6. We will have lunch at the Iowa State Cafe in Ames and then visit Reiman Gardens.

The meeting was adjourned followed by installation of the officers for the 2024-2025 year. Retiring officers, Vivian Levier and Karen Lage, were recognized. Officers installed for their first term in office were Barb Bereczki and Rhonda Hein. Officers installed for their second term were JoAnn Ruopp and Krisiti Reed. Continuing officers, Avriel Koester, Karen Handorf, Joan Gethmann, Marcy Knaack, and Joyce Swangel were also recognized.
