GLADBROOK – The Gladbrook American Legion Auxiliary hosted the July Senior Dinner decorating with a 4th of July theme. Rev. John Granchie gave a prayer before the meal. All enjoyed a turkey dinner with homemade cream puffs for dessert. Sue Koster and Claire Handorf performed a skit entitled ‘Stars and Stripes Forever.’ Claire was a TV moderator and interviewed Francis Scott Key who wrote the National Anthem; Francis Bellamy who wrote the “Pledge to the Flag;” and Bessy Ross who made the first official United States flag. The program was both educational and entertaining. The group sang Happy Birthday to Dorothy Wiese who was celebrating her 97th birthday. There is no Senior Dinner in August. The Sept. dinner will be hosted by the Chapel Church on Sept. 13 at the Memorial Building. Call Jeanne for reservations.
