The Gladbrook American Legion and Auxiliary continued a long tradition of erecting a float for the Corn Carnival Grand Parade which took place this year on Friday, June 14. The theme of the patriotic float was “Eras of Veterans Protected Our Freedom.” Besides the banners, the float was decorated with military uniforms from WWI, poppy wreaths, and American flags. The Peace United Church of Christ entry in the 2024 Corn Carnival Grand Parade was titled ‘Growing With Christ.’ The congregation’s new Pastor John Granchie along with his wife, Deb, enjoyed riding on the float and throwing out candy in their first Corn Carnival parade.
