TOLEDO – Early in the morning on Monday, June 3, when the roosters were still nestled in their beds and the sun had just started peaking over the treetops, the Tama County Board of Supervisors’ meeting began. Due to the new public ordinance passed a few weeks back, weekly meetings will now start bright and early at 8:30 a.m. instead of the previous later time.

The first item up on the agenda was the Heartland Insurance Risk Pool renewal. Two representatives of the risk pool informed and updated the supervisors.

Second up was Ben Daleske, the Tama County Engineer. His update started with the fact they have started the 4-10 work week. He then moved on to updates about the flooding, the 370th Street culvert that had washed out has now been fixed. Rock that had been washed out has been replaced, Longpoint should be opened up soon, and water is down in Chelsea so some repair work will be done there. The fuel tanks will be moved over to the new Toledo shop. Iowa Bridge and Culvert is finishing up on the 220th Street culvert and will then move on to P Avenue. Iowa Bridge and Culvert bid was approved for two projects.

The Opioid Fund Interest Account at the Toledo Bank was approved to have county employees, Karen Rohrs, Amanda Kriegel, and Sara Gilbert to be signers on the account.

A few date changes have been made for the Bible readings at the Courthouse. The July 14 reading will now be at 1:30 in the afternoon, and the June 24 reading will now be at 6:30.

The canvass for the Primary Election was set for June 11 at 8:30 a.m.

Claims totaling $175,926.58 were approved.
