GLADBROOK – On Wednesday, May 15, members of the Gladbrook Legion Auxiliary including Kathy Herink, Katie Chizek, Chris Hickman and Jolene Denbow were at the All Veterans Park collecting greens for the 500+ small sprays the Auxiliary makes for all the veterans graves at the area cemeteries in honor of Memorial Day. On May 16, those pictured including (front row, l-r) Katie Chizek, Jane Frericks, Lori Sanderson, and Julier Hooper; (back row, l-r) Ann Palmer, Candace Bartel, Marilyn Carstensen, Chris Hickman, Joyce Swangel and Jolene Denbow met at the Memorial Building to attach poppies and ribbon to an arbor vitae sprig to make our sprays. The Unit places a spray with a flag at all the veteran’s graves in honor of their sacrifices to preserve our freedom.
