TAMA COUNTY – Tama County Master Gardeners will be distributing free tree seedlings at the Tama County Extension and Outreach office at 203 W. High St. in Toledo on Saturday, May 4 beginning at 10 a.m. and going until 125 trees are distributed, or noon – whichever comes first. They will also be in Gladbrook at the fairgrounds on the same day from 9 a.m. until another 125 trees are gone, or 11 a.m. – whichever comes first.

This is a chance to replace trees that were lost during the derecho or ash trees lost to emerald ash borer. Seedlings being distributed are native species that are adapted to growing conditions in Iowa.

Available species include Redbud, Silver Maple, Wild Plum, Buttonbush, Pin Oak, Red Pine, Red Oak, and Norway Spruce.

They will be distributed on a first-come basis.
