Gladbrook Women’S Club February News

On February 8 the Gladbrook Women’s Club traveled to the Meskwaki Cultural Center in Tama. After looking through the museum, Jonathan Buffalo gave a presentation. He told us of the Meskwaki Creation History. He explained how they traveled to Iowa, bought land, and became a settlement that has grown over the years.

Co-President Joan called the meeting to order with 19 members answering, “What is your favorite color?”

The minutes of the January meeting were read and the treasurers’ report was given. Both were approved as given.

A motion was given by Avriel to sign Valentine cards to be given to Westbrook Acres residents. It was seconded by Joyce. Motion passed.

A thank you note was read from the Gladbrook Library for our donation.

Information was shared about the upcoming Tama County Fair Food Stand in July. It was motioned by Ann and seconded by Deb R. to work the food stand again this year. Motion passed. Daily food specials were discussed and it was decided that we would offer to do two shifts on Thursday. A motion was made by JoAnn to reserve Thursday, July 18 for the Women’s Club to work two shifts. It was seconded by Barb B. Motion carried.

2024-2025 sign up sheets for committees, meeting hostess, and projects were passed around.

Ideas for the Corn Carnival float were discussed for everyone to be thinking about.

Officer openings were announced for the upcoming year.

The March meeting will be held at Peace Church on March 14.
