GLADBROOK – The Gladbrook American Legion Auxiliary hosted a Veterans Day Supper on Nov. 20.
The program began with Unit President Jeanne Paustian stating. “Today we recognize our military men and women and veterans with a big thank you for your service. We will never forget our veterans that have passed on to the Post Everlasting.”
The Gladbrook Post has one WWII member, Ray Landt, living in Grinnell.
The Post had two State Commanders Carroll Wegner and Richard Denbow.
Special guests bringing greetings were Dept. Commander Stanley Elliott and Marshall County Veterans Affairs Director Kevin Boseboe.

Two birthdays were recognized, Kevin Boseboe and 81-year Unit member, Maxine Schoel, who will turn 97 on Nov. 26.
Everyone played a “Veterans Day” trivia game. Some of the things the group learned were that veterans have served in 12 major wars; there are 620,000 WWII veterans still living; there are 21 million veterans in the US; and 26 out of the 44 presidents were veterans. Tori Clausen was the winner.
Post Commander Ron Busch read GMG fifth-grade student Maddox Weeks’ winning essay on “What the American Flag Means to Me.”
Everyone enjoyed singing the military songs and the veterans always are proud to stand for their song. Ann Vibbard was the pianist.
The program concluded with singing “God Bless America.”
