Veterans Day observed in Gladbrook
GLADBROOK – The Gladbrook American Legion Auxiliary hosted a Community Veterans Day Program at Westbrook Acres this past Monday, Nov. 13.
The ALA Americanism Chairman Lisa Reinhard started the service with a quote from Jonn F. Kennedy.
“As we express our gratitude, you must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”
Reinhard also stated that November 11th now serves as a time to thank living veterans for their service to their country and to remember the sacrifice of the many soldiers who have given their lives in the service of their country.
“You must always remember that freedom is not free!”
The veterans present were given an American flag. Military songs were played by pianist Ann Vibbard. Everyone enjoyed the patriotic cupcakes.
Veterans present included Gerald Claussen, Donald Downs, Donald Hall, Ervin Oettchen, Richard Denbow, Allen Eggers, Dennis Haack, and Paul Purvis.
ALA Unit President Jeanne Paustian and Membership Chairman Jolene Denbow assisted.
