Gladbrook Womens’ Club Sept. News
On September 14 the Gladbrook Womens’ Club met at the Gladbrook Methodist Church. Kim West presented the program on “Fans!” He showed several of his favorite fans from his collection. He gave some history of the different ones and told of the materials that they were made of and where they came from.
Following the program thirteen members answered roll call by answering the question, “If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?”
A thank you note from the Gladbrook Library for our donation was read.
A report was given on our June outing by Avriel. Ten members enjoyed the day with visits to the POW/Conservation Corp Museum and the Hardin House in Eldora. Then on to Ackley for lunch followed by a visit to the Calkins Nature Center. On the way home a stop was made in Iowa Falls at a coffee shop.
It was reported that 15 members worked the concession stand at the Tama County Fair. Changes that had been made were well received and things seemed very organized.
Debbie E. will be reminding members of their turn to make cookies for Hospice and Marilyn will be reminding members of when they are signed up to work concessions at the Gladbrook Theater.
Our upcoming fundraiser is a Holiday Brunch on Sunday, November 12 at the Memorial Building from 11-1. Sign up sheets were passed around for jobs and food.
Memorial books have been ordered for June and Stephanie to be placed in the Gladbrook Library.
The October meeting will be at the Otter Creek Nature Center.
