Pioneer Craft Fair set for Sept. 10 in Morrison

Raffle to feature ‘Morning Chores’

MORRISON – The 2023 Pioneer Craft Fair is set for Sunday, September 10, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Grundy County Heritage Center Museum and grounds, located in Morrison.

This year’s raffle is a print by Charles Freitag, titled “Morning Chores”. Tickets are available for purchase now at the Grundy County Conservation Board Office at 204 4th St. Morrison, or on the day of the Pioneer Craft Fair. The drawing for the raffle will be held at 4 p.m. in front of the brick museum.

Entertainment

Live music by Hope Meyer, Chris Buck and Jens Olsen will take place from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and The Vinyl Frontier from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. There are many activities for children including, pony rides, a petting zoo, a youth scavenger hunt with free ice cream cones for completing, and a treasure hunt in the hay.

Local vendors, artists and food

Numerous local vendors including quilts, plants, baked goods, art work, jewelry, honey, rocks/geologist, mums and pumpkins available for purchase. Come hungry and purchase lunch in the Heritage Center. The log cabin will have butter samples and fireplace-cooked stew available at a small cost. Jump on the school bus and ride it to the Blackhawk Creek Area, then hop on the horse-drawn trolley and take a ride in the wilderness to see the Buck skinner’s camp.

All events are FREE. Exhibits in the Heritage Museum, and the brick museum will be open throughout the day. The Pioneer Craft Fair is co-sponsored by Historical Collections of Grundy County and the Grundy County Conservation Board.  We would like to thank all the local businesses/sponsors who support this event each year.
