Welcome to Medicare Seminar offered Sept. 28

GRUNDY CENTER – A seminar is being offered for those who are new to Medicare or have questions about their Medicare benefits. “Welcome to Medicare” is a Medicare program overview that will take place Thursday, September 28 from 5-6 p.m. at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Education Room. The free class is sponsored by the State of Iowa’s Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) and Grundy County Memorial Hospital. A trained SHIIP volunteer will present information about:

Medicare Parts A & B benefits

Prescription Drug benefits (Part D)

Medicare Advantage Plans

Medicare Supplemental Insurance

The education program is recommended for those who will be turning age 65 in the next six to twelve months or those who wish to learn more about the various options Medicare offers for health insurance coverage for those age 65 and over. In addition, trained SHIIP volunteers help Medicare beneficiaries explore their options in one-on-one sessions throughout the year, also located at the hospital.

If you plan to attend the September 28 seminar, pre-registration is needed in order for there to be materials for each participant. Phone Grundy County Memorial Hospital at 319-824-5081 to register for the seminar or to make an appointment to meet individually with a trained SHIIP volunteer. There is no cost for either service. Registration for the Welcome to Medicare seminar is requested by September 15 in order to plan for materials. Participants should park on the hospital’s west side and use Entrance #3 to enter the hospital.
