Those looking to run for Tama Co. Sheriff in 2024 and step into Sheriff Dennis Kucera’s boots in the wake of his anticipated – but not yet officially announced! – retirement next year, have been well-represented at area parades throughout the summer including during the recent Winding Stairs Festival parade in Traer and the 140th Birthday Parade in Lincoln. Announced candidates Tama-Grundy Publishing has been made aware of include Tama Co. Detective Lucas Dvorak, Tama Co. Detective Trevor Killian, and Tama Co. Deputy Casey Schmidt. Heather Knebel, a newly-announced candidate for the Tama Co. Board of Supervisors in 2024 also had a float in the Traer parade on Aug. 12.
