TOLEDO – The Monday, July 17 Tama County Board of Supervisors meeting was over in a shot, lasting a whole five minutes total. The public comment section started the meeting – lasting its usual thirty minutes – with very few citizens deciding to utilize the time. The main bit of discussion during the public comment time was about the public comment time. One local stood up, reading a well-written statement on the subject that cited the Iowa Code. This stems from last week’s Supervisors’ meeting when it was decided that during the 30 minutes of public comment time, citizens could only speak on agenda items and nothing else.
During the five minutes of actual meeting, the Supervisors approved the Sheriff’s quarterly report and a liquor license for Backpocket Brewing for RAGBRAI. They also re-appointed Doug Dvorak to the Tama Co. Zoning Commission and approved a Chelsea street closure for July 29 due to a car show.
Claims totaled $633,256.52.
