Sienknecht, Hulme vie for 2023 Tama Co. Fair Queen

Crowning set for Tuesday, July 11 in Gladbrook

The 2023 Tama County Fair Queen candidates were recently announced and this year include two high school seniors – Adelyn Sienknecht who attends GMG High School in Garwin, and Emily Hulme who attends North Tama High School in Traer.

Crowning is set for Tuesday, July 11 at 7 p.m. at the Tama County Fairgrounds in Gladbrook.

Candidate biographies printed below.

Adelyn Sienknecht

Adelyn Sienknecht, 17, is the daughter of Randy and Melissa Sienknecht of rural Gladbrook and will be a senior at the GMG school district.

Hulme.

While in high school, Adelyn’s activities included: Volleyball, Basketball, Track, Softball, Band, the fall play, National Honor Society. She has served as the Vice-President of her FFA and 4-H club as well as the Vice-President of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and the GMG band. Adelyn is the Vice-President of the Mid-lowa Youth Beef team and active in advocating for the beef industry. She was the Tama Country Beef Queen for 2022-2023. In her community, Adelyn has assisted with many Junior Auxiliary programs and held positions with the 3rd district Junior Auxiliary.

In her spare time, Adelyn can often be found working in the barn with her 4-H beef cattle and goats or on the volleyball court or softball field.

Adelyn’s future plans are to attend a 4-year university and study in an ag related field.

Emily Hulme

Emily Hulme, 17, is the daughter of Sam and Jenny Hulme of Clutier and will be a senior at North Tama High School.

Emily is active in her school’s band program, basketball and football. The year she will be serving as Vice-President of the North Tama FFA Chapter.

In her community, Emily is very involved in Tama County 4-H, being a member of the Clutier Cowboys and Cowgirls for 9 years. She is active in her youth group at St Paul Catholic Church.

She is a member of the Junior Legion Auxiliary in which she was chaplain. She is a member of the lowa Junior Gelbvieh Association and is proud to represent Tama County Cattlemen as the 2023-2024 Beef Queen.

Emily enjoys spending as much time as she can with family, especially the times she can go fishing and swimming at her aunt’s family pond.

Emily’s future plans are to attend Kirkwood Community College with an interest in Ag Business or animal science with the goal to continue at ISU and receive her ag teaching degree.
