Gladbrook Women’s Club April News

On Thursday, April 13 the Gladbrook Women’s Club served a salad luncheon to the Gladbrook Senior Citizens group. Pat Acton provided an interesting program talking about his career of building models from wooden matchsticks. He talked about the newest model, a diorama of the City square from “Back to the Future.” The first half is on display now at Matchstick Marvels.

Following the program the meeting was called to order by Co-President Joan with 15 members answering roll call with what they were looking forward to most about spring.

The minutes of the March meeting were read followed by the treasurer report. Both were approved.

A letter from Iowa River Hospice was read expressing their Thanks for the donation from the group.

Empty positions on the committees were discussed and the sign up sheet passed around for members to fill in.

Reminders were given for the members supplying hospice cookies for May and also the members working the concession stand at the theater.

The Easter egg coloring at Westbrook Acres was canceled due to a wave of Covid so the thought was to try to make May baskets.

The Nominating Committee passed out a report of names to be nominated for 2023-2024 officers. A motion was made by Vivian to accept the slate of officers as presented and seconded by Barb L.

The May meeting will be held at Natural Grind in Grundy Center for lunch followed by the installation of officers. To carpool please be at the Methodist Church at 10:45.

The June outing sign up was passed around. It will be on June 8 with a trip to Eldora and then on to Ackley.

The Tama County Fair Food Stand was discussed. The club has helped with one day in the past as a fundraiser. It was motioned by Vivian to work the Wednesday as a club if it’s available. Seconded by Karen H. Co-Chairs will be Vivian and JoAnn R.

The Corn Carnival float committee is in need of another person or two to help out.

The board will meet to choose a menu for the Holiday Brunch in November. More information to come at the May meeting.

The meeting was then adjourned.
