A beautiful recreation of the Morrison Presbyterian Church – now privately owned by Morrison landowner Henry Schick – was unveiled last Sunday, March 19 during the Grundy County Historical Collections’ Spring Open House held at the Heritage Museum in Morrison.
Master woodworker Jim Freed created the model of the church and was on hand during the open house to discuss his creation in detail with the more than 60 people in attendance.
Freed recalled attending the church as a child with his grandparents Millard and Freda Freed. He created the model church in memory of his grandparents.
While the Morrison Church held its last service on Feb. 7, 1965, the model can be viewed at the Grundy County Heritage Museum in Morrison year-round Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or by appointment.
