Gladbrook Womens’ Club News

The Gladbrook Womens’ Club met at Spankys on Thursday, March 16.

Co-President Joan introduced our speakers from Cedar Valley Hospice. They shared information about the services and programs that they provide.

Following the program the meeting was called to order with 14 members answering, “Do you wear green for St. Patrick’s Day and do anything special to celebrate?”

The minutes of the February meeting were read and approved.

The treasurer’s report was given and approved. One request was for a donation to GR After Prom. It was motioned by Karen Lage to send the donation and seconded by Joyce Swangle. Motion carried.

In the correspondence report a letter from a member as she needs to resign from the club due to family matters at this time. Some cards were sent out to a few members that are facing challenges at this time.

The theater concession sign up was passed around to fill in some empty spots. Hospice cookies are to be brought to our membership meeting for the time being, A discussion concerning the fall fundraiser was then started. The job of co-chairman was explained. A motion was made by Avriel to not have entertainment for our fall fundraiser. It was seconded by Vivian. Motion carried. Ideas were discussed and the idea of a Sunday brunch was brought up. Avriel motioned that we plan a Sunday brunch for our fall fundraiser. It was seconded by Karen L. Motion carried. Dates were then looked at and Joyce will check the Memorial Building schedule to see if Nov. 12 or 19 is available.

The April meeting is our salad luncheon for the Senior Citizens. The sign up sheet was passed around for members to sign up for salads to

be made. The GMG speech team will be invited to lunch with us and provide the program.

The 23-24 meeting committee sign up sheets were passed around to try to fill in empty spots.

Easter Egg coloring committee is planning for April 3 at 1:30 at Westbrook Acres.

The Nominating Committee reports that Joyce has agreed to the Membership position. Karen H will continue as Historian. One member is thinking about the position of Co-President.

The meeting was then adjourned with a St. Patrick’s Day-themed lunch served.
