Join Tama County Women, Land & Legacy for its upcoming Learning Session, “Nuisance Wildlife.” It will be held on Thursday, March 23 at the Toledo Public Library, 206 E. High Street in Toledo. Registration and dessert will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the event beginning at 7:00.

Two speakers will be there to share their wildlife knowledge: Kaycie Waters with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and Bruce Rhoads of Backwater Wildlife Solutions in Chelsea, Iowa.

Kaycie will share information on how to coexist with wildlife, such as selecting garden varieties less preferred by wildlife. She is a statewide Natural Resources Field Specialist and works to create natural resources education programs for county Extension use. Kaycie also assists in the coordination of the Iowa Master Conservationist Program and was a wildlife biologist in Arizona before her move to Iowa.

Bruce has been providing animal removal from properties throughout central and eastern Iowa for several years. Besides removing unwanted or damaging wildlife, Bruce also provides preventive measures such as roof ridge guards and foundation protection.

Tama County Women, Land & Legacy began in 2007, part of a statewide USDA outreach project. This is the local group’s 44th event. About 400 individuals from in and around Tama County have attended at least one event of the group’s events. Women, Land & Legacy is currently active in 41 Iowa counties and brings together Iowans interested in agriculture, local food and natural resources to converse, listen and become empowered for involvement on their landscape and in their communities.
