Pork Producers Pie Auction

Tama County has some spectacular pie bakers and it was illustrated as the pies were entered in the annual Pork Producer Pie Baking Contest. The Tama County Pork Producers want to thank all our pie buyers at our annual banquet. Megan Gienger was named “Best Pie Maker” at the banquet held on January 14 at the Gladbrook Memorial Building. Megan’s two-crust blueberry pie was purchased by State Bank of Toledo for $800. Tama County Pork Producers matched this amount and donated $1,600 to split between the Tama County Food Banks.

The other winning division pies and their buyers were: Dylan Hosek’s Men’s Division Coconut Cream Pie was purchased by Dolezal Farm Supply for $525. Jenny Watler’s Sour Cream Rasin Pie was purchased by Sash Auction for $375 and Brady Jesina’s Youth Division Pie was purchased by Dolezal Farm Supply for $450.

Other buyers included: Vittletoe Inc., Custom Builders, Buckingham Coop, Kopriva Ag, Rydell Chevrolet, Matt Kahler Trucking, Van Wall Equipment, Nichols Insurance Agency, Dolezal Farm Supply, Appraisal Services, Pat McGonegle/IPPA, Jarrod Sutton, Lawrence Rouw, Brenneman Pork, Goos Implement, Rabo Ag Finance, Lynch Livestock, Wilcox Equipment, Cookies BBQ Sauce, Farm Bureau Insurance/Larry Horbach, Key Coop, Farmer’s Savings Bank/Traer, Stine Seeds, ZMO Crop, Town & Country Vet Clinic, P&K/John Deere, AgVice/Samantha DeWitt, Hometown Family Market/Gladbrook, Tama Sale Barn, New Tech, Rascals Trucking, Casey Schmidt, Thomsen Equipment, Inc., and Sawyer Farms.

All pie buyers’ names were placed in a drawing for a free grilling. Kahler Trucking was the winner.

The Tama County Pork Producers would like to thank all those who made our annual pie auction a great success this year. The proceeds will go to funding the Swine Show at the Tama County Fair, the Pork Producers swine program, promoting our product throughout the year and a donation to the Tama County K9 Unit.
