The Gladbrook Junior Auxiliary performed a Christmas Candlelight Program for the members of the Legion and Auxiliary on Wed, Dec. 14. The program was titled the “12 Symbols of Christmas.”

Kinley Miller and Stella Betts read “How the Fir Tree Became the Christmas Tree,” while the Bartels sisters read the “Legend of the Candy Cane.”

Stella Betts then told the history behind the writing of “Silent Night” 203 years ago. It was very interesting to hear the story of the birth of Jesus through the symbols including the angels, star, evergreen wreaths, holly, poinsettias, and even gifts.

The Juniors placed a bow on each Veteran present. Everyone received a nativity ornament to place on their tree at home as well as a candy cane. Everyone enjoyed singing Christmas carols by candlelight.
