Haunted Hallways

The Haunted Hallways is a unique event that GMG-Garwin Secondary School does every year.

This year’s Haunted Hallways, held Oct. 31, was a success, with 195 visitors. The GMG Student Council raised $970.

The student council planned the layout and themes for the first two floors of the secondary building.

The GMG Art Club planned and put together the third floor. This year’s general theme for the first two floors was phobias. The theme for the top floor was “The Asylum.”

The Student Council used its own decorations and others that were donated.

The art club’s decorations were bought with the money that they fundraised from face painting at football games.

The people who participated in scaring or guiding people through the hallways included Student Council, other voluteers and members of the Art Club.

People who went through (some visited multiple times) said that it was a different experience each time, and it this year was the scariest.

The Student Council had planned to have the event on the football field, but there wasn’t enough time to prepare for the visitors.

Prior to Haunted Halloween, Trunk or Treat took place in GMG’s new gym.

This was the third year of the event. It’s a fun way for kids and students to get involved with the school during Halloween time.

“It’s a way for the school to share Halloween with the community in an environment where parents know their kids will be safe,” said Principal Jaimie Gargas.
