Gladbrook’s 10th annual Kids’ Shopping Day is right around the corner. The special shopping day for kids is set for Saturday, December 10, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at Peace Church.

Kids’ Shopping Day is a community effort to honor Jesus on His birthday by serving the children and families in the area. The planning team wants to offer the youth of our community an opportunity to be personally involved in choosing, wrapping, and giving gifts to their family members this Christmas. We know that in the giving of simple gifts, our kids can more fully experience the joy that caring for others brings. It’s also the perfect time for us to remind the children of the precious gift God gave to the world on the first Christmas…our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Who can shop

Anyone from the age of 3 through seniors in high school. No family member will be allowed to help their children. The 3 and 4-year-olds and, if needed, 5-year-olds, will be aided by a volunteer.

If you would like to join our team you could…

-Volunteer to wrap gifts.

-Help to set out “merchandise” Dec. 7-9.

-Make items to share with our shoppers.

-Come and take the hand of a little one and help them pick out a special gift for someone they love.

-Offer a hand to help clean up after a busy, but very heart-warming day.

-Of course, donate new or gently used items (no clothes except collegiate) to be used as “merchandise” for ALL AGES… AT NO CHARGE. (Bring items to the UMC or to Peace Church). Financial donations are also appreciated so the committee can purchase items where needed.

Join the fun to prepare for Kids’ Shopping Day on Saturday, December 10, 9:00 a.m. to noon, as we reach out to bless others in Christ’s name. Helpers on the 10th need to be at Peace Church by 8:15 a.m. Call Jeanne at 473-2802, 473-2843, or 641-751-2039 to get involved!

We need at least 75 men and women volunteers on the 10th.
