Members of the Tama County Legion and Auxiliary met on Tuesday, June 28, at Gladbrook with a meal at 6:30 p.m. The Gladbrook Auxiliary provided meat and salad with others bringing a dessert to share. After the meal, the Legion held a flag disposal ceremony for flags that were not serviceable anymore. Following the flag disposal ceremony, the Legion and Auxiliary held their meetings. Reminder to all units to get their list of officers to the County and District President. Foreign Food Fair is July 16 at the Iowa Veterans Home (IVH). Clutier, Elberon and Traer are to furnish five dozen kolaches each. IVH Picnic will be held August 6. Unit assignments of what to take were emailed out before the meeting. We need volunteers to help serve and escort the residents. Reminder that to go in the IVH you need to have Covid immunizations and also at least one booster shot. Bring your immunization cards with you. Department Convention is July 7-10 in Des Moines. The Auxiliary held election of officers and the officers will stay the same. Third District President Sandy Scallon installed the officers – Diane Caloud, President; Lorraine Vileta, Vice-President/Chaplain; Diane Caloud, Secretary/Treasurer.

The Legion reminds everyone that the Wall that Heals will be at the Meskwaki School on Aug. 4-7 and they need volunteers to guard the Wall 24-hours a day. Ron Busch will be the new Tama County Commander.

The next meeting will be held on Oct. 25 at Elberon with a Memorial Service for deceased members during the past year.
