Paint the lake with paddlers

Paddlers of all sorts – kayakers, canoers, paddleboarders – are invited to gather at Union Grove Lake, Tama County, on Saturday, June 4. The informal event, organized by surrounding lake residents, is designed to attract paddlers of all ages and abilities to the renovated lake. Local drone pilot and videographer, Dean Brittenham, plans to be there to capture the color with an overhead video of the paddlers. Music by Perry and The Pon*Tunes will also add to the fun from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. For people who like to fish, the weekend (June 4-6) is Iowa DNR Free-Fishing Weekend for Iowa residents. Souvenir water bottles will be given to paddlers at the boat ramp near the beach and area parking. A kayak assist launch was installed last year by the non-profit organization, Lake & Park Holding Corp, as part of their mission to encourage and promote the lake and park south of Gladbrook.
