Penning taking on leadership role at GCMH Emergency Department

Cam Penning

An experienced emergency nurse is the new Emergency Department Leader and Trauma Coordinator at Grundy County Memorial Hospital (GCMH).

Cambray Penning, RN, of Wellsburg has served as an Emergency Department nurse at the hospital for the past seven years. Previously she was a nurse at MercyOne Medical Center in Waterloo.

At the start of her health care career, Penning worked at GCMH Long Term Care as a nurse and certified nursing assistant before returning to school to further her health care education.

“As a critical access hospital, we are committed to providing the emergency health care the residents of our small communities depend on,” GCMH Administrator Adam Scherling said. “We’re here when our patients need us and we want to exceed expectations when community members find themselves in need of emergency care. We are very pleased that Cam has taken on this leadership position. Our hospital is fortunate to have a great team serving in the Emergency Department.”

Penning is replacing Sara Hook, RN, who remains with the hospital as an emergency department nursing team member. GCMH is affiliated with UnityPoint Health- Allen Hospital and the UnityPoint Health system.
