Severe weather expected tonight across Iowa
Tama and Grundy counties at enhanced risk
The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Des Moines is forecasting severe weather to race across Iowa later today, Tuesday, April 12.
Tama and Grundy counties are under an enhanced risk for severe weather. The enhanced risk includes possible tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds.
Storms are expected to begin in western Iowa between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and quickly move eastward.
Due to the fast movement of the storms – near 50 mph or greater – weather conditions will rapidly change.
NWS advises those in the enhanced risk area to have multiple ways to receive warnings today. Sign up for Tama County specific emergency and/or weather alerts here: https://www.smart911.com/smart911/ref/reg.action?pa=TamaCountyIowa
Today’s storms are expected to last into the overnight hours so have a way to be woken up if a warning is issued in your area.
