Now is the time to start many seeds indoors for transplanting into the garden outdoors when the weather warms. Even those who prefer to purchase transplants for that purpose are planning the rest of the garden and looking for seeds.

Thanks to the efforts of Tama County Master Gardeners, Lisa Reinhard and BJ Reed, those visiting the Gladbrook Public Library will have access to a seed library for a second year.

This is a seed distribution library intended to put seeds and growing information into the hands of the general public. A variety of common garden seeds are offered with handouts from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach attached.

Those who share an email address when seeds are taken, will receive growing and disease information as well as recipes from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach during the growing season. Stop by the library any time it is open to visit the seed library.

For more information about the seed library or the Tama County Master Gardener program, call Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Tama County at 641-484-2703.
