Jesina earns Tama County pie title

Pork Producers hold pie contest at annual county banquet

Sheryl Jesina of rural Toledo was named “Best Pie Maker” at the annual Tama County Pork Producers banquet held January 15 at the Traer Memorial Building. Jesina’s apple pie was purchased by Farm Credit Services of America for $600.

The other winning division pies and their buyers were: Ryan Hosek’s youth plum pie was purchased by Cookies BBQ Sauce for $100; Bill Jesina’s peach pie was purchased by Tama Livestock for $275 and Laura Bru’s caramel apple pie was purchased by Dolezal Farm Supply for $275.

All pie buyers names were placed in a drawing for a free grilling. ZMO Crop Insurance/Mike Zmolek was the winner for this.

The Tama County Pork Producers would like to thank all those that made our annual pie auction a great success this year. The proceeds will go to funding the swine show at the Tama County 4-H Fair, the organization’s swine program, promoting pork products throughout the year and a donation will be made to the Tama County K-9 unit.
