The not-so-newlywed game at Peace Church

Church and Mayor join together for a game show morning

Remember the Newly Wed game show on TV? It made many of us laugh because of the funny or revealing answers. It helped those who were already married to see some of the silly and comical ways they communicated in marriage.

One local church is bringing the game show format back on Sunday morning, Feb. 20. Peace Church in Gladbrook is featuring the Not-So-Newlywed Game during their morning service at 10:30 a.m.

Married couples from the church body will compete with one another to see who can score the highest point tally. A special guest will emcee the Not-So-Newlywed game.

Gladbrook’s own Mayor Trudi Scott will bring her upbeat sense of humor to the fun morning event.

Questions, such as, Where did you two meet? Who made the first move? On a scale from 1 to 10, how would your partner rate your first date? Who’s the better kisser? What movie did you first watch together? What song most reminds you of your partner and why?

Although the morning will be laugh-filled, Pastor Tim Ayers, will take a few moments to talk about different sweethearts in the Bible. Not every relationship went smoothly in the scriptures but the Bible is filled with stories that we can learn solid lessons from.

Pastor Tim feels that Sundays should also be fundays. There are many ways to see God’s work at hand and having some fun during a church service is never a bad thing. Ayers, a former, “recovering” cartoonist for most major magazines, sees humor in many aspects of church life. Although his sermons are spattered with humor, most of the congregation waits patiently for his “phone call from Aunt Gladys.” These story jokes create a different atmosphere for the start of each morning message.

All of Gladbrook is invited to the Not-So-Newlywed Sunday Fun Game on February 20th at 10:30 a.m. Learn about God’s love and loving one another in a fresh and fun way. Start your week off with friends and neighbors at Peace Church. For more information go to findpeaceatpeace.org.
